When shipping this item through a UPS expedited service you must email cs@mrpokerchips.com to get a freight quote. Ground quotes will be determined properly, but air freight quotes will be under priced by our website and your order will be delayed.
UPS uses the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight on ALL air shipments. Dimensional Weight is calculated as L * W * H / 166. For air shipments this item will have a billable weight of (16*17*10)/166 = 17 pounds. Its actual weight is only 6 pounds.
For ground shipments, the actual weight is used. Dimensional weights are only used when the L * W * H calculation is greater than 5,184 for ground shipments. For small raffle drums the 5,184 threshold is not met to generate a premium for ground service. For ground shipments a weight of 8 lbs (the actual weight) is used.
For all other raffle drums (large and medium) there is a premium applied due to the dimensions for all service levels including ground since the dimensional calculation yields a product greater than 5,184.
Essentially, the only time you do not use dimensional weights on any raffle drum shipment is for a small drum (metal or acrylic) being shipped by ground. All expedited and all shipments of the medium and large raffle drum use dimensional weights to arrive at the shipping cost. |
